The Great American Drive

In October 1999 I embarked on the Great American Drive, 5,236 miles of open road, national parks, and scenery more amazing than I had ever seen before. This trip was more than just a two-week vacation, it was also the beginning of leaving New York City and relocating to Northern California.

All together 16 states were visited: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and California.

The journey began on October 2nd.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

-- Mark Twain
