| On the weekend of May 19-21 I went to the Esalen Institutefor the workshop Photographing the Seasons of Big Sur with Cynthia Johnson Bianchetta & Daniel Bianchetta and 11 fellow students. From the Esalen catalog: Big Sur abounds with natural beauty in every season. It is a land where the waves of the Pacific caress the rugged California coastline, where the sun and the fog perform their perennial dance through magical redwood forests and over grassy slopes. This workshop will contemplate the beauty of Big Sur with a camera. On Friday night the group will meet to prepare for Saturday's photographic excursion, invoking the use of photography as a tool for meditation, healing, self-growth, and spiritual connection. Saturday will be a time for connecting with Big Sur in its springtime attire: the wildflowers, the sunsets, the misty panoramas. On Sunday morning, thanks to the miracle of overnight film processing, the group will gather to share its creativity together. Below are the highlights from the six rolls of film I shot during the weekend. |
